Around two years ago I put together a list of thirty tracks to laze around with on warm sunny days. Each summer I’m updating it, and since today was the first properly bright one of the year I’ve had free I’ve added loads more and re-organised everything – so I thought I’d share it with you.
Ahead of their debut full-length (promised for later this year), Cassels have put together what they describe as a ‘pre-album’, and are streaming a new track from it. The Weight is one of three previously unheard songs on the compilation, which will otherwise be made up of almost everything they’ve released so far; a way of tying together the various EPs and singles that have come out over the past few years before they move on to the record proper. The appropriately-titled Foreword will be released on 12″ vinyl by Big Scary Monsters on April 7th. The band support Meat Wave on their UK tour next month, hitting Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach on the 24th.
So it would seem that there is both sad news here and glad, at least if you are of a certain disposition – Lost Film Foundation (formerly ThePARADE) will be no more, following the release of their album. In the meantime, material from both bands can be found at combined bandcamp page, Cult Crimes; this includes those previously unreleased tracks not to part of said record, compiled into Meet Us At The Doom Beat Disco.
On the other hand, it would appear that Lupen Crook, co-vocalist in both has returned to his solo ways, with multiple new songs appearing on his own soundcloud page over recent months.
Blueberry Phoenix will attempt to keep you updated on any further developments, as well as the release of Lost Film Foundation album The Big Light in June via Vacilando ’68.
